Approximately 100 firefighters, EMTs, and hazardous material personnel are on site on Allens Avenue.

Neighborhood activist Linda Perry of the Washington Park Neighborhood Association told GoLocal, "They need to do something. This is air pollution. What if that fire blew up? Enough of this."

This is the third time the facility has been on fire in the past three years.

Rhode Island Department of Environment Management Director Terry Grey told GoLocal on Wednesday, “We have our emergency response personnel en route. These fires are unacceptable — they threaten public health and continue to complicate the environmental clean-up needed at the site.”

Gray deemed the site de facto and “unregulated” in an interview with GoLocal in April of 2023.

In April 2024, GoLocal captured an overnight fire on the site. SEE HERE

And in 2021, GoLocal captured on video yet another fire on the site.
