City Launches New Web Site to Help Businesses

The City of Providence has launched a new Web site designed to showcase the benefits of investing and working in Providence's business sector. The site, www.opportunityprovidence.com, provides economic development resources ranging from information on loans, financing, and workforce development to business-to-business mentorship data specific to the area.

"This new Web site is critical to our ongoing efforts to attract new business, support existing companies and grow jobs," said Mayor David N. Cicilline. "Building the foundation for job creation in our region remains a top priority."

The innovative Web site, which was designed by Providence-based ExNihilo, is meant to provide a user-friendly experience with simple Web page sections like:

* Why Providence
* Entrepreneurs Grow Here
* Supporting Your Business
* Things You'll Need

The Web site also features an easy-to-use web tool called "Ask the Expert," which enables entrepreneurs to submit questions about a variety of business issues. Professional consultants at the Department of Planning & Development will then provide users with detailed responses to their questions through the Web site, which are then archived for other entrepreneurs to view.

Successful Providence business owners are also showcased on the Web site in "Faces of Success" as part of an effort to inspire entrepreneurs with real, local stories.
