City Lowers Flags for Fernandez

Providence Mayor David Cicilline ordered flags lowered to half staff today in honor of former City Solicitor Joe Fernandez, who died Saturday after an undisclosed illness.

“Joe—an outstanding attorney and dedicated public servant—was deeply committed to transforming Providence City government and laying the legal foundation for reform during his tenure as City Solicitor,” Cicilline said. “It is with heartfelt gratitude for Joe’s extraordinary service to our city that I order flags lowered to half staff. On behalf of the residents of Providence, I am eternally grateful for Joe’s legacy of honesty, integrity and selfless dedication to our community.”
