Clark Greene Named Interim President at Rhode Island College

Clark Greene was appointed Wednesday night at Rhode Island College's interim president for the time period between the departure of Rhode Island College President Nancy Carriuolo and the arrival of a new president. President Carriuolo’s service to the college concludes in late May. The Council on Postsecondary Education made the appointment. He is a former staffer to Governors Lincoln Almond and Don Carcieri.

A new RIC president is expected to be on board before the start of school in September.

Council Chair William Foulkes said, “As the next president strives to move RIC forward, he or she will certainly benefit from the strong foundation provided by Nancy Carriuolo.”

Since 2014, Greene the former staffer has served as interim vice president for advancement and external relations at RIC, where he oversees the Rhode Island College Foundation and Alumni Association, as well as government relations, marketing and communications. Previously he served as the acting executive director of the Rhode Island Office of Higher Education, working closely with the University of Rhode Island, Rhode Island College and the Community College of Rhode Island to advance Rhode Island’s public higher education system.

Greene holds a bachelor’s degree in government from Hamilton College and a master’s degree in public policy from the George Washington University.
