Councilman Hassett Struck in Hit-and-Run

Last evening Providence City Councilman Terry Hassett was struck by a hit-and-run driver while crossing Atwells Avenue last evening.

Hassett was seriously injured and rushed to RI Hospital. 

The incident took place after Hassett, the Smith Hill Democrat, left a restaurant near Tammany Hall.

According to sources, family members rushed to the hospital and "last rites" were read.  Later in the evening, it is reported that Hasset regained consciousness. 

"Terry Hassett has been a stalwart advocate for the residents of Smith Hill.  He has been a fighter for his Ward," said Josh Fenton, a co-founder of GoLocalProv.
