Cranston City Council President Farina Announces Formation of Diversity Commission

Cranston City Council President Michael Farina has announced the formation of a Diversity Commission.

“In Cranston, we want to ensure we foster a collaborative, supportive, and respectful environment that increases the participation and contribution of all employees and residents. Engagement, Inclusion and social equity are pillars of this environment,” said Farina.

Farina is presenting a resolution to form the commission on Monday, April 22 at the City Council meeting.

The Commission

The goal of the Commission is to work toward soliciting feedback and input from residents, stakeholders and policymakers across the city to create and implement solutions that encourage a diverse workforce while fostering inclusion for all.

The Commission will be built with members of the community, the Cranston City Council, the Personnel Director, a member of the Mayor’s administration and a representative of the Police and Fire Departments.

Appointments will come from Farina and Mayor Allen Fung.
