Dear Taxpayers of Rhode Island - Dan Doyle's Daughters

After testifying last week to our dad's innocence in the case launched by the State of Rhode Island in February 2012, we took our seats behind the defense and glanced to our right. Seated there were six or seven individuals on the State of Rhode Island payroll, all part of the prosecution team. An obvious question came to mind: since the now imprisoned Gordon Fox called for an investigation of our dad in February 2012, how much taxpayer money has the state spent on this case over the last 58 months?
In the past week, we have derived great joy in listening to witness after witness confirm what we always knew, the innocence of our dad. It would be impossible to capture in this letter our rage at what the State of Rhode Island has done to our dad, our family, and thousands of scholar-athletes and scholar-artists. But this matter, and many others, will be addressed in a variety of forums in the future. So, too, will be the real fact that embezzling relates not merely to stealing money, but to stealing years of precious life, years that can never be retrieved.

Commence with an independent forensic audit, discerning the amount of taxpayer dollars expended on the case to-date, beginning in February 2012.
Inform indictment-related programs such as the Hassenfeld Family Initiative and Bates College of the testimony that has come into evidence and is specifically related to those indictments.
A famous Voltaire quote will be inextricably bound to this case forever: "Our wretched species is so made that those who walk the well-trodden path always throw stones at those who are showing a new road."
Sincerely,
The Dan Doyle Daughters
