Diossa Tops Pryor in Democratic Primary for General Treasurer -- Faces GOP's Lathrop in November

James Diossa (pictured) has won the Democratic primary for General Treasurer.
Former Central Falls Mayor James Diossa has won the Democratic primary for General Treasurer. 

He turns back the challenge from former Rhode Island Commerce Secretary Stefan Pryor. 

With 90% of the state vote reported Diossa was up over Pyror 55.5% to 44.5%.

Pryor had made the case that the combination of his state and private sector experience made him a stronger candidate.

Diossa, who pointed to his experience running the City of Central Falls, will now face republican James Lathrop in the General Election.
