The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) are investigating a possible case of measles in Barrington, according to the Rhode Island Department of Health (HEALTH).

"A doctor reported the case," said HEALTH PIO Andrea Bagnall Degos on Friday. "The time to confirm or rule out the case depends on the results of bloodwork from the CDC, which we expect to have next week but there is no firm deadline. Right now we are considering it a 'probable' case."

"The people who were exposed and vaccinated will self-monitor and report any fever or illness to us for a period of 21 days after the initial, potential exposure. Seven children under one year old were exposed. "
