Federal U.S. Magistrate Judge Lincoln Almond Retires

The Federal District Court of Rhode Island announced that Magistrate Judge Lincoln D. Almond will retire in May 2025 after more than 20 years of service to the Court.

“Almond has diligently served as a Magistrate Judge in the District of Rhode Island since September 10, 2004. Prior to his appointment to the federal bench, Judge Almond was a private litigator at Edwards & Angell, LLP for 14 years,” said John J. McConnell, Jr. Chief U.S. District Judge.

McConnell said, “Almond graduated in 1985, with distinction, from the University of Rhode Island with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration. He then went on to graduate in 1988 with high honors from the University of Connecticut School of Law.  After law school, he served a two-year term as a law clerk to the Honorable Peter C. Dorsey of the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut.

McConnell added, “The Judges of the Court are deeply honored to express our gratitude to Judge Almond for his unwavering dedication and outstanding commitment to the judiciary and the community. His dedication to upholding the principles of justice and his relentless pursuit of excellence have set a remarkable example for us all.  He will be missed.”

Almond was the son of former U.S. Attorney and Governor Lincoln Almond.
