Fire at Waterman Grille Interrupts Dinners and Wedding Festivities

A fire at the Waterman Grille restaurant in Providence on Friday set off fire alarms and sent customers into the parking lot at the East Side restaurant and event space..

The Providence Fire Department responded shortly before 7:00 PM.

A wedding reception was taking place at the property at the time.

Providence Fire Chief Derek Silva told GoLocal, “Firefighters responded to the Waterman Grille just before 7 PM for a report of smoke in the building. Firefighters arrived and found fire in the roof area and worked quickly to extinguish the fire.”

“There are no injuries, although they’re still on scene, and the fire was limited to one section of the building and they are able to remain operating in a limited capacity,” added Silva on Friday night. 

The restaurant posted that the restaurant portion of the property will be closed temporarily. SEE MESSAGE BELOW
