Barnes was fired by North Providence in 2020 for a racist Facebook post.

North Providence Police referred the case to the Rhode Island State Police to avoid any appearance of a conflict.
Barnes in Court
The felony charges against Barnes are stalking and conspiracy, and the misdemeanor charges are a lesser conspiracy charge and vandalism.
The alleged events took place on July 4, 2023.
Barnes appeared in 3rd District Court.
In addition to the charges, a no-contact order was issued against Barnes from contacting Lombardi.
Barnes was released on personal recognizance and $10,000 bail.
