FM Global Expands Workforce by 2 Percent

FM Global announced today that it had bucked unemployment trends by adding 44 new jobs in Rhode Island in the first six months of 2010.

The new positions expanded the Johnston-based company’s local workforce by about 2 percent. And, FM Global said it is planning to hire more people—even at a time when business activities, professional and financial services were among the hardest hit for job losses last month.

FM Global is one of the largest business insurers in the world, with more than 5,000 employees in 63 offices worldwide. In 2009, FM Global had gross premium earnings of $4.6 billion and by the end of the year had assets worth $12.9 billion.
