Former Chief Justice Williams Named Special Master in Pension Case

Superior Court Justice Sarah Taft-Carter appointed retired Chief Justice Frank Williams Special Master in the state’s landmark pension case on Tuesday “due to the complexity of discovery and issues presented in these cases.” 

According to the order, Williams role will be “addressing all discovery issues, resolving outstanding and prospective discovery motions, and assist(ing) the parties in narrowing and/or resolving disputed issues by agreement, subject to further approval from the court.”

Taft-Carter also noted in her order that the discovery phase of the trial would close on March 30, 2015.

Williams is directed to submit his report to the judge on or before April 15, 2015.
