Former StrategicPoint Boss Arrested on Sex, Weapon Assault Charges
GoLocalProv has learned that founder and former CEO of the financial planning firm StrategicPoint David Brochu was charged by New Hampshire Police for multiple sexual assault charges.
The alleged sexual assault took place on February 22nd. According to Conway, New Hampshire police reports, “The adult victim reported the offense to a medical professional and thereafter to the department. Further investigation revealed that in addition to the alleged sexual assault, the victim had been physically assaulted as well. It was also alleged that the perpetrator threatened the victim and incorporated a firearm into that threat.”
GoLocal reported in May of 2010 of Brochu leaving the high profile firm. Subsequent lawsuits were filed by the firm and Brochu, which were resolved in June of 2010. At the time, StrategicPoint claimed $550 million in assets under management.
Further investigation revealed that in addition to the alleged sexual assault, the victim had been physically assaulted as well. It was also alleged that the perpetrator threatened the victim and incorporated a firearm into that threat.
Subsequent to the initial investigation an arrest warrant was issued on Saturday as well. The warrant charged

After an arraignment on all charges before Judge Albee, bail was set at $100,000.00 cash, with several conditions applicable upon release. Brochu will be afforded a probable cause hearing on March 4th, 2014 at 1:00 pm.
The case remains under investigation by the Conway Police Department. Policy prevents comment on the identity of sexual assault victim, or their relationships to offenders, but there is no danger to the general public in this matter.
Brochu, StrategicPoint
In 2010, GoLocal reported Brochu was leaving StrategicPoint.
The founder of StrategicPoint Investment Advisors, LLC, Brochu, and the firm that owned his company, Focus Financial Partners, LLC, reached a settlement in a bitter court dispute.
A GoLocalProv exclusive report on May 12, 2010 revealed that Brochu was no longer with the company that he founded. At the time of his departure, the prominent Rhode Island financial firm managed assets worth $550 million.
Brochu had sued owner Focus Financial, in Delaware Chancellery Court, seeking access to various financial records. In a message to his clients, Brochu said he had finally gained access to most of the information he sought, but another unspecified dispute sent him and Focus Financial spurred another round of lawsuits, landing in Providence Superior Court.
The two parties reached a settlement, and Brochu vacated his role at StrategicPoint according to the agreement.
