Ghiorse Update - Providence May Get 12 Inches of Snow

A fast-moving but powerful storm is rapidly intensifying along the North Carolina coast this morning. It will race northeastward today passing east of Nantucket during the predawn hours tomorrow

Precipitation should begin this afternoon in the form of either rain or snow but will change over to heavy, wet snow and continue through the night and gradually end early tomorrow. Winds will gust to near or over 50mph and perhaps higher during the peak of the storm late tonight especially along the coast and over the Cape and Islands.

Snow accumulations are likely to be in the 7"-12" range with isolated amounts over 12" possible especially from Providence eastward through Massachusetts to Cape Cod.
