North Providence Police announced that on Saturday at approximately 10:20 AM, the Department responded to 19 Humbert Street to check on the wellbeing of an individual who had not been heard from by family members in two days.

Police made entry and found Hector Arvelo, age 41, of Providence, deceased at the home.

“There were a number of indicators on the scene that foul play was involved. Detectives were called in to investigate the scene. The Rhode Island Medical Examiner's office was then called to take custody of the body. At that point, the death was deemed suspicious,” according to police.

On Monday, an autopsy was performed by the Medical Examiner's office, and North Providence police were notified that the cause of death was a Homicide.

“Throughout the weekend, the Detective unit has been working leads and combing through evidence collected at the scene. Thus far in the investigation, the incident appears to be isolated, and there is no threat to the neighborhood or Town,” said the police in a statement.
