Lincoln School Awarded $50K Grant From Champlin Foundations

Providence's Lincoln School has been awarded a $50,000 grant from The Champlin Foundations.

The grant will be used to update the natural science/biology labs. Previously, Champlin grants were usedfor the Language lab, Chemistry Class and Robotics Classrooms.

“At Lincoln, we recognize that many of our students will follow science careers, joining the critical struggle with our world’s challenges in human health, environment, and energy needs, said Science Department Head Cate Hibbitt. "All of our students, however, will need to understand science in making thoughtful, informed decisions about the world they live in. Thus it is very important to us that our classrooms are not only up to date and functional, but also interesting and inviting, challenging our students to think deeply and creatively about science. We are so excited to receive a Champlain grant to update Lincoln’s biology classrooms, allowing us to emphasize scientific inquiry, independent experiment design, problem solving, and innovation. We look forward to constructing greenhouse areas for long-term plant growth and experiments, areas for focused discussion, tanks, and modern lab bench arrangements for group-based advanced laboratory work… and to making our biology classrooms alive with the science of life.”
