VIDEO: Magaziner Makes Case For Financial Literacy in Schools Ahead of House Committee Hearing

Seth Magaziner
Rhode Island General Treasurer caught up with GoLocalProv.com News Editor Kate Nagle before the House Committee on Health, Education, and Welfare hearing on Wednesday on legislation to require that financial literacy be taught to all students in Rhode Island’s public high schools.

On Wednesday, Magaziner testified in support of House Bill 5033, which is sponsored by Representatives Joseph McNamara, Mia Ackerman, Gregg Amore, Grace Diaz, and John Lyle.

Magaziner explained that the requirement would be phased in over a number years — and that the Department of Eduction would be required to provide teaching tools online to assist educators with a common curriculum.
