Former Donald Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort is set to plead guilty in federal court on Friday as part of a plea agreement with Special Counsel Robert Mueller, according to reports.

Manafort is facing seven counts of foreign lobbying violations and witness tampering in a trial set to start on September 24.

The details of the plea agreement are unknown.

Manafort’s Legal Trouble

As GoLocalProv reported back in August, Manafort was found guilty on eight counts of federal tax and banking crimes in a separate trial.

“I feel very badly for Paul Manafort and his wonderful family. “Justice” took a 12-year-old tax case, among other things, applied tremendous pressure on him and, unlike Michael Cohen, he refused to ‘break,” said President Trump on twitter at the time.

The charges made Manafort the first campaign associate of Trump to be found guilty as part of Mueller’s investigation.
