Specifically, GoLocal asked how much the state has spent on data and how much it will cost in the future.

More than 600,000 Rhode Islanders have been impacted by the cyberattack.

Data that has been breached are Rhode Islanders’ social security numbers, bank account numbers, and other highly personal data.

“Deloitte has recognized that the state has immediate and unexpected expenses related to the breach, and we appreciate their willingness to lend financial support,” said McKee in the press release.

Deloitte is being sued in federal court in a number of class action lawsuits related to the release of the personal data of Rhode Islanders.

Deloitte has had a longstanding and controversial relationship with the State of Rhode Island going back more than a decade.

McKee extended Deloitte's contract when he became governor.
