McKee Refuses to Answer Questions About Cost of Data Breach
Instead, McKee issued a released press release stating that Deloitte has agreed to pay $5 million.
But McKee’s office is refusing to answer questions about the costs hitting taxpayers for the data breach.

More than 600,000 Rhode Islanders have been impacted by the cyberattack.
Data that has been breached are Rhode Islanders’ social security numbers, bank account numbers, and other highly personal data.
“Deloitte has recognized that the state has immediate and unexpected expenses related to the breach, and we appreciate their willingness to lend financial support,” said McKee in the press release.
Deloitte has had a longstanding and controversial relationship with the State of Rhode Island going back more than a decade.
McKee extended Deloitte's contract when he became governor.
