Men Arrested After Standoff in Massachusetts Are Linked to Pawtucket-Based Group

The group of men taken into custody after a standoff with Massachusetts State Police on I-95 in Wakefield, Massachusetts on Sunday are reportedly linked to a Pawtucket-based organization - the Rise of the Moors

“Two additional suspects were located in their vehicles, bringing the total number of those arrested to 11 (two initially on North Avenue and nine outside and inside the vehicles),” tweeted the Massachusetts State Police.

“We are Moorish Americans dedicated to educating new Moors and influencing our Elders,” states the Rise of the Moors’ website.

And, many of their postings to their website focus on two areas — supporting minority businesses and their products and questioning U.S. tax policies.

One YouTube video posted by the group is titled, “Do Moors Pay More Taxes?

Another video posted is a tour of the Rhode Island Supreme Court Building and into the law library. Its description states, “Clearly state courts don’t have jurisdiction and they know it. They’re are just targeting us at Rise of the Moors to discourage YOU, our fear in YOUR heart and keep you away from YOUR birthright. Viva la revolucion! All hail Prophet Noble Drew Ali! Long live the Moorish Empire! Long live the Moorish Militia!"

“Our business endeavors will achieve its highest in fulfillment and confidence with the cooperation and patronage of all nationals and especially emphasized whenever possible between other Moorish Americans,” writes another statement on their website.

“The main focus of Rise of the Moors is to perform all things relating to and appropriate to portraying the overall history of our ancestors - the Olmecs, Moabites, Canaanites, Hittites etc.; Informing all Moors of their political status here in the Maghreb Al Aqsa (America – Morocco the most extreme west); Enlighten the minds of the fallen Moors…”

The group further states, “to promote a collective of Moorish Americans and connecting them to the Rise of the Moors social and economic platform; to promote the use of moral principles and the branches of knowledge dealing with ethical awareness; to encourage all Moorish Americans to believe in the capacity of each other to succeed in business, to encourage, support and provide patronage in our affairs.”
