Three Suspects Attempt to Rob Man in Downtown Providence - He Refused and Was Stabbed Weds Night

A man was stabbed on Wednesday night in downtown Providence after multiple assailants reportedly attempted to rob him. 

About Incident 

Shortly after 10 PM, police responded to 49 Weybosset Street for a report of a stabbing.

Police said they encountered the male victim sitting in front of the Hampton Inn Suites. 

According to police, the victim said he was in the parking garage, when three males approached him and told him to empty his pockets and drop his bag. 

The victim said he refused and tried to get away, at which time he was stabbed in the back before the suspects fled on foot. 

Rescue transported the victim to Rhode Island Hospital.

Detectives are currently investigating.
