Missing Brown Graduate Goldstein Found Dead in India

Kaitlin Goldstein
Brown University graduate Kate Goldstein, who was a fourth year graduate student at MIT, has died in India.

Goldstein, who graduated from Brown with a degree in engineering in 2008, was in India at the campus of the Students Educational and Cultural Movement of Ladakh (SECMOL) participating in a workshop on energy and development.

According to a release from MIT, Goldstein, 28, was last seen going for run on a mountain trail at around 6 a.m. local time on Saturday, June 14. When she did not return, a group of SECMOL students and instructors began a search of the summit around 8:45 a.m. Her parents, who traveled to India to assist in a formal investigation, report that she slipped while running on loose rock, sliding several hundred feet off a cliff.
