Give credit where credit is due … you have to congratulate all those involved in the RI Lieutenant Governor’s debacle for coming up with yet another “only in Rhode Island” moment.

Last week when Igor and Julia were at their peak intensities, it marked only the second time on record when there were two Category 4 Hurricanes at the same time in the Atlantic. The other time was in 1926.

Yeah, the Patriots are not what they used to be in the Super Bowl Years so isn’t it time that we all got that out of our psyches and realize that Bruschi, Vrabel, McGinest, Seymour, Law and Harrison (to name just a few) aren’t walking through that door again?

Weather Trivia Quiz #1: More hurricane stuff. What is the latest in the year that a hurricane has formed in the Atlantic? And what is the latest in the year that a hurricane has made landfall in the U.S.?

Weather Trivia Quiz #2: Yesterday (September 21st) was the 72nd anniversary of the Great New England Hurricane of 1938. Where in Rhode Island was the highest wind gust recorded and what was the speed?

In order to make global warming sound more dangerous, White House science advisor John Holdren no longer wants it referred to as global warming or climate change. It’s now being referred to as “global climate disruption”. What next in this age of spin and “talking points”?

We’ve had 12 named storms so far in this hurricane season, by my calculation we’ve got another 8 or so to go in order to hit the early season forecasts. Looks like we’re on track to hit that number or higher.

BTW … do those political signs that seem to grow out of the ground in the neighbor’s yard really influence you one way or the other? Or are they just so much graffiti?

What’s wrong with the Red Sox? That question has not been asked around here with any regularity since 2003.

Has anyone seen the first signs of fall foliage showing up yet? Oh well, you can’t rush the season which usually peaks in late October hereabouts.

I’m not a political pundit, but are you as concerned as I am that the voter turn out in November will be as paltry as it was in the primary last week? I mean, 16% of registered voters? C’mon. If many more of us don’t show up to vote in the general election, then we’ll get exactly what we deserve.

Weather Trivia Quiz #1 Answer: Latest in the year was Hurricane Alice on December 30, 1954. Latest landfall was in Tampa, FL on November 30, 1925.

Weather Trivia Quiz #2 Answer: Providence recorded 100 mph sustained winds with a gust to 125 mph. Blue Hill Observatory (elevation 635 feet) just outside of Boston reported sustained winds of 121mph with a gust to 186 mph!

Ooooops … gotta go … someone just GAVE me Sox tickets and I’ve got to find someone else to GIVE them to!

P.S. So long summer of 2010 tonight at 11:09 PM! It was a great run and lots of fun. Let’s hope the 2011 summer weather is at least half as good!It's Weather Trivia time!
