Narragansett Police Arrest 7 Following Large Fight at Block Island Ferry Dock

Narragansett Police Chief Sean Corrigan announced Sunday morning that seven individuals were arrested following a large fight at the Block Island Ferry dock Saturday night. 

It marks the latest altercation at the area where tourists and ferry-goers convene in Galilee. 

As GoLocal reported in August 2022, "Law enforcement boarded the Block Island Ferry in response to a number of passengers fighting. Police reportedly took a number of individuals into custody as the ferry completed its trip back to Pt. Judith."

Multiple arrests were made following that incident. 


About Saturday's Incident

According to Narragansett Police, on Saturday, June 15 at 8:12 p.m., the agency responded to the Block Island Ferry at 304 Great Island Road for the report of 20-30 individuals actively fighting.

Police say that Officer Brandon Gagnon was first to arrive on the scene and immediately requested backup. Upon arrival, officers witnessed a large group of individuals fighting each other. 

As officers were making arrests, numerous individuals began interfering and were given warnings to stand back or they would be arrested for obstructing.

As a result, seven individuals were arrested on the scene. Two individuals were transported to area hospitals via ambulance for treatment of injuries sustained during the fight. 


The following individuals were arrested at the scene:

  • Maneul Pina, age 42, of Brockton, was arrested and charged with: Felony Assault; Resisting Arrest; Obstructing Officer in Execution of Duty; Disorderly Conduct.
  • Gilda Antunes, age 28, of Brockton, was arrested and charged with Obstructing Officer in Execution of Duty. 
  • Elsa Lopes, age 31, of Brockton, was arrested and charged with: Simple Assault; Resisting Arrest; Obstructing Officer in Execution of Duty: Disorderly Conduct.
  • Henry Lopes, Jr., age 32, of Providence, was arrested and charged with Disorderly Conduct. 
  • Victor Manuel Gomes Depina, age 39, of Brockton, was arrested and charged with Obstructing Officer in Execution of Duty and Disorderly Conduct.
  • Michael Gomes Lopes, age 36, of Brockton, was arrested and charged with Resisting Arrest and Disorderly Conduct.
  • A juvenile, age 16, was arrested and charged with Simple Assault and Disorderly Conduct (booking photos for juveniles are not public). 

They are expected to be arraigned in District Court 4th Division on Monday. 

Police say this is an ongoing investigation. No further information is available at this time.
