Naval War College Graduation Set For June 19

The Naval War College will hold a commencement ceremony for it's students on Friday, June 19 at Dewey Field, Naval Station in Newport. The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m.

The class of 2015 includes 316 U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Army, Coast Guard and civilian government employees. There will also be 118 international naval officers representing 63 countries.

There will be an additional 1,174 students who completed their coursework through the College of Distance Education.

Naval War College

The Naval War College is the oldest institution of it's kind in the world after being established in 1884 under the leadership of it's first President Commodore Stephen Lucas.

Since it's first class of nine students in 1885, over 50,000 students have graduated from the Naval War College  with about 300 of today's active duty admirals being alumni.
