The first suspect in the murder, 18-year-old Felix Hernandez Rosado, turned himself in on July 14.
On July 2, police released preliminary details in the city’s third homicide of the year — and announced the next day that Trinidad was reported missing from a neighboring house.
As GoLocal reported:
“Last night around 11:30 we got a call at 223 Progress Avenue — a call for a shooting,” said Major David Lapatin on July 2. “We arrived, and found man had been shot. He was taken to Rhode Island Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.”
Last week, a 50-year old woman was killed in Providence.
“Detectives have been working since last night. We do have some leads — it seems like the man was working in the house, and also knew the family at 223 [Progress],” said Lapatin.
“So we’re trying to put things together, and there’s not much more I can give you on that. He’s 37 years old, he’s a contractor, and that’s about all we can give you for now,” said Lapatin. “It’s the third homicide of the year.”
“He was shot in the street. He was talking to an acquaintance, and the shots came from up the street. There were quite a few [shots],” he said.
