NEW: 4th RI Department of Corrections Officer Tests Positive for Coronavirus

The RI Department of Corrections announced  Saturday night that a fourth correctional officer has tested positive for the coronavirus.

“One of the initial Correctional Officers from the Intake Service Center quarantined a few weeks ago has just tested positive for COVID-19. This brings the total number of Correctional Officers testing positive to four," said J.R. Ventura, Chief of Information & Public Relations Officer.

"Since the officer has been out of the facility for 2 weeks without contact with other staff or inmates, the risk of further spread is minimal.  We wish this officer and the other Correctional Officers a speedy recovery,” said Ventura.
