Becker, who holds and MD and MPH, is Professor of Emergency Medicine and Professor of Behavioral & Social Sciences at Brown University and attending physician in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Rhode Island Hospital.
Police responded to to a "reported loud party" on Bullock Avenue at 10:18 PM on July 30, where they encountered underage youth and open containers of alcohol. According to the report, police seized bottles of champagne, vodka, as well as open and empty cans of beer.

Police also noted that Becker told several of the partygoers not to take a PBT, or breathalyzer, when given the opportunity by police before they left.
Becker was taken to police headquarters where he was processed and charged under the state's social host law. He was released on bail under personal recognizance set at $2000 at 12:40 AM on July 31, and is due in 6th District Court on August 7 at 9 AM.
