Body of Man Pulled From Water in Warwick, Search Continues for 11-Year-Old Girl

The United States Coast Guard reported Sunday that the body of a 30-year-old man was pulled from the water off Conimicut Point in Warwick -- and the search continues for an 11-year-old girl. 

"Rescue crews from STA Castle Hill, Air Station #CapeCod, and the #Narragansett Bay Marine Task Force are searching for an 11-year old girl and 30-year old man in the Narragansett Bay. #SAR, " the Coast Guard Tweeted Sunday afternoon. "The Cutter COHO is also en route to join the search."

On Sunday evening, the Coast Guard updated their effort with the following.

"#Update: The 30-year old male has been recovered, unresponsive, by STA Castle Hill and transferred ashore to EMS," they Tweeted. "#USCG crews and #Narragansett Bay Task Force continue their search for the 11-year old girl."

Warwick Mayor Frank Picozzi made the following announcement shortly after 7 PM on Sunday. 

"We’ve gotten some somber news today.  Two swimmers are missing (one adult and one child) off the shore at Conimicut Point. 

Two people were pulled from the water and transported to the hospital. 

A search is being conducted for the missing two by the Fire Department, Police, other cities and the Coast Guard.

I was at the scene for quite a while. The fire department Chaplin was with the family."

There is no additional information at this time.
