NEW: Cicilline Blasts GOP on Looming Shutdown

He believes that extreme members of the Republican Party are using controversial policies -- like their refusal to finance Planned Parenthood and other health service providers – to “hijack” the budget process.
“These high-stakes political games undermine the public’s confidence in government,” said Cicilline. But his accusations and blame do nothing to raise the public’s confidence in the Congressman’s abilities.
“Rhode Islanders and all Americans expect us to work together and do what’s right for the future of our country,” he continues. But if Cicilline’s abysmal approval ratings are any indication, it seems Rhode Islanders expectations are not being met.
Even if the government shutdown goes into effect, Cicilline will continue to keep his offices open and he and his staff promise to keep working to serve his constituents. He states that he and his staff are available to answer questions during this “confusing times."
