Cranston City Councilman John Donegan announced Thursday he will not seek re-election this year.

First elected to represent Ward 3 in 2018, Donegan called serving on the body “an honor.”

“While I am not ruling out running for office again in the future, I will not be seeking reelection this year. I will still continue to be involved in community organizations as well as local politics, but I am taking a step back from elected office,” said Donegan. “I am taking a step back because I want to spend more time with my family.”
