The Arrest

On April 23, at 3:59 a.m. a Cranston Police Officer discovered a 2006 Toyota Highlander bearing a Massachusetts registration parked on Mayflower Avenue while checking for overnight parking. Once the officer checked the registration through a national database, he immediately learned that it had been reported stolen in Boston a few nights earlier and the occupant had the vehicle forcefully taken from them at gunpoint. While officers were investigating and monitoring the stolen Toyota on Mayflower Avenue, officers saw a female exit a nearby residence at 138 Waite Avenue around the corner and unlocked the vehicle while in possession of the keys.

While officers were on scene they made contact with Travone Green who was also at 138 Waite Avenue and discovered he was wanted on a warrant out of Central Falls for First Degree Armed Robbery with a Pistol and three active Rhode Island court warrants.

Further investigation by officers and detectives, which included interviews with nine witnesses, including one female juvenile, learned that Travone Green was the operator of the Toyota and had picked up several females in the vehicle earlier in the night. It was also learned that Pawtucket Police attempted to stop the vehicle several hours earlier and that Travone Green was the operator who eluded Pawtucket officers.

The Toyota was towed to Cranston Police headquarters and a court authorized search warrant was executed on the carjacked vehicle. A search of the vehicle by Cranston Police BCI detectives yielded two firearms, a .38 Caliber revolver fully loaded and a German Polizei U Dienst Pistol 7.65 caliber-MOD PPK automatic.

The firearms are currently being traced by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF). Green is a known member of the Bloods street gang as has an extensive criminal history.
