The GoFundMe page was started early on Wednesday to help defray the legal costs for Rosario, who was accused of the 1990 murder of her children’s father in New York City, but was taken down later in the day.
"All the donations have been refunded because it went against their terms and conditions but we found a new page that doesn't prohibit our reason for the cause," wrote Jovelyn Rosario, the daughter of the accused bus driver, on Facebook.
The page, started by Elsie Fernandez, states of Rosario:
A new page has cropped up to raise money for Rosario, accused of a 1990 murder. She is a single mother who raised her two exemplary daughters all on her own. The media has distorted the image of a woman who has worked tirelessly to care for her supportive family, her dogs, Andy and Brownie and just about anyone who has crossed her path. Many, me included, can recall a time where she went out of her way to help you in a time of need. Right now, we need to raise $100,000 so that we can help pay some of the fees that are going to be required of the family through this process. Her family has exhausted private loans and at this time she really needs the support of family and friends. Suni is the kind of person who would never ask for help so as to not inconvenience you. But it is at this time, that as a friend I cannot sit by and do nothing! This is part of the reason why I started this fundraiser so that as a community we can stand behind someone who truly does not deserve this. Please send a donation as every little bit helps. I will update this page as more information is released. Please be assured that I will personally make sure that the money is used properly.!
