UPDATED: Cumberland Police Officer Reportedly Stabbed and Taken to Hospital

A Cumberland Police officer was reportedly stabbed on Saturday night in an incident on Mendon Road.

According to multiple law enforcement sources, there was an incident between an officer and an individual. The Cumberland officer was reportedly stabbed and the suspect was reportedly shot, and both were transported to local hospitals.

"[The] latest status is the officer is in the hospital. The report I have is that he is in good condition. Not life-threatening injuries," according to Cumberland Mayor Jeff Mutter via an email to GoLocal Saturday night.

Neither the police department nor the city has issued an official statement.

The extent of the injuries are unknown at this time. 

The incident reportedly took place near Cumberland High School.
