NEW: Death in Burrillville Town Councilman's Home Not Suspicious, Police Say

The death of a woman in a Burrillville Town Councilman’s home is not considered suspicious, according to Police Major Lareto P. Guglietta.

Guglietta confirmed that 50-year-old June Lavoie died Sunday in Councilman Stephen Rawson’s North Hill Road home. While authorities are still awaiting the toxicology report, Guglietta said it appears the death was related to her intoxication.

Lavoie was Rawson’s girlfriend.

Guglietta confirmed that authorities have reported to Rawson’s home on multiple occasions over the last year, noting that Lavoie had long battled alcoholism and other dependency issues.

Rawson, the former chairman of the Burrillville Republican Town Committee, was arrested last June after making prank phone calls and threatening bodily harm against a resident.
