NEW: Dems Criticize Doherty for Opposing Expansion of Violence Against Women Act
The state Democratic Party is accusing Republican Congressional candidate Brendan Doherty of not supporting legislation that would expand and reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act.

Pacheco’s comments come on the same day Doherty is set to host a rally for his female supporters.

Earlier this year, the Senate passed the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act (S.1925) by a vote of 68-31 that extended protections to Native Americans, undocumented immigrants and members of the LGBT community. But the House version of the bill did not include those provisions.
