"Drag Queen Story Hour" Will Take Place After Bristol Library Flip-Flops on Cancelation

"We appreciate the responsiveness of the Library, and their willingness to hear the feedback from our residents regarding the harm caused by giving into fear, and using language that implied that Bristol is “not ready” to include ALL of our neighbors in our community," said the Bristol Democratic Town Committee in a statement.

Bristol resident Lisa Peterson joined GoLocalProv News Editor Kate Nagle on GoLocal LIVE on May 31 where she spoke the library initially canceling the event — on the day of the Bristol Pride parade in June.
“The damage has been done and we just can’t make it go away,” said Peterson, said of the library’s decision to cancel the event on June 15— whether or not they reverse the decision.
The library had said more than a day and a half after the cancelation that "threats of violence' prompted the decision.
