AAA’s January 14th survey of prices in the Ocean State found an average price of $3.539 per gallon for self-serve, regular unleaded.
That price means Rhode Island drivers are paying 23 cents above the national average for a regular unleaded gallon of gas, currently at $3.30 per gallon across the country, and means drivers are paying over five cents more now than they did at this time last year, when the average price per gallon was $3.48.

Midgrade prices, meanwhile, were an average of $3.789 in the state while premium and diesel prices stood at $3.909 and $4.079, respectively.
