NEW: Gas Prices Holding Steady

A week after Rhode Island saw its first weekly increase in gas prices in three months, AAA Southern New England reported today that prices at the pump have remained steady over the last seven days.

AAA’s January 14th survey of prices in the Ocean State found an average price of $3.539 per gallon for self-serve, regular unleaded.

That price means Rhode Island drivers are paying 23 cents above the national average for a regular unleaded gallon of gas, currently at $3.30 per gallon across the country, and means drivers are paying over five cents more now than they did at this time last year, when the average price per gallon was $3.48.

AAA found a price range of 40 cents this week, from a low of $3.359 to a high of $3.759.

Midgrade prices, meanwhile, were an average of $3.789 in the state while premium and diesel prices stood at $3.909 and $4.079, respectively.
