NEW: Hinckley Rips Senate Dems

Republican candidate Barry Hinckley is criticizing Senator Sheldon Whitehouse following a recent report that he is being considered to lead Senate Democrats.

"If we needed any more evidence that Washington operates in an alternate reality, this could be Exhibit A," said Hinckley. "This is a case of the blind leading the blind. Sheldon's record speaks for itself: higher taxes and no budget in over three years, while jobless claims and deficits are skyrocketing. Apparently, his Senate colleagues are keen to follow his example."

Hinckley said Democrats should only consider Whitehouse if they want more of the same partisan politics.

"If Senate Democrats are looking for talking points rather than solutions, they're on the right track," Hinckley continued. "I have no doubt that Senator Whitehouse will be very effective in using scare tactics to spread misinformation to Seniors. Fortunately for us, Rhode Islanders are tired of this 'political' rhetoric from career politicians. Maybe Sheldon is the best that Senate Democrats can do, but Rhode Island can do better."
