NEW: Homeless RI Man Dying of Cancer Seeks Help Finding Home for Cat

Rhode Island Animal Medical Center and Four Paws Pet Resort found the cat in a crate Thursday morning, with the following unsigned note attached. (See actual letter below).
Please take care of a wonderful friend — I can no longer be a good parent to him. I cannot give him a home as I no longer have one.

Seeking New Owners
“We have a well-cared for kitty here who’s a neutered male who appears to be healthy. In fact, he’s quite well-fed,” said Chad Callanan with the RI Animal Medical Center. “We just want whoever might know the man who dropped him off to know that we will find him a good home.”
Callanan, who showed GoLocalProv camera footage showing a man dropping off the cat, said that “drop-offs” of pets are not that common.
In order to protect the man's anonymity, GoLocal did not publish the video.
“It doesn’t happen too often,” said Callahan. “We gave the cat a full set of tests. For folks who are interested, he’s a chubby, well-fed middle-aged cat.”
