UPDATED: James Woods Selling Rhode Island Home

Actor and native Rhode Islander James Woods (seen here supporting the "D-Strong" effort) is selling his southern Rhode Island property.
Longtime Rhode Island resident and actor James Woods is selling his Rhode Island home.

Realtor Allen B. Gammons, Jr. has the listing, and made the announcement on Thursday.

“Once in a rare while, a property comes along that is just awe inspiring. It has been a pleasure watching Jimmy care for his family home over the years, and while I know it is sad for him to part with it, he is anxious to find a new owner that will find the joy and love of family and friends at this special place," said Gammons.

Gammons noted that while the exact address is being withheld, the residence is in Exeter and that the address will be made available to prequalifed buyers.

“It is with a mixture of joy and sadness that I present this property to be sold. It has been a part of my family’s copious fantastic memories of great times in Rhode Island, a state that I still call home," said Woods, a graduate of Warwick's Pilgrim High School, who noted that he will still keep a separate "pied-a-terre" in the state.

About Woods, Home Sale

Woods, a veteran of nearly 150 movies and television shows announced on Thursday that his recent retirement from the entertainment field has "prompted him to simplify his life" -- and a portion of that simplification is the sale of several of his many real estate holdings on both coasts.

Woods' Rhode Island vacation home, which consists of two lakefront properties, has been in his family for decades. The first home was restored using period and reclaimed materials to keep its authentic feel; the second home built more recently is a classic shingle style waterfront residence.

According to Gammons, Woods recently invested $250,000 reworking the waterfront land and exterior entertainment areas. Features of the property include multiple dock areas, sandy beaches, a cobblestone boat ramp, two fire pits (one in the water and one on land), and a chefs outside kitchen and entertaining area that "rivals any to be seen."
