NEW: John Ghiorse's Winter Weather Update

Weak low pressure over Western Pennsylvania this morning will redevelop and intensify south of New England later today. It will then move quickly away from New England this evening and be out of the way by late tonight.

Total accumulations now look to be in the 3-5 inch range. The snow should be light and fluffy as temperatures will remain below freezing all day.

Light snow will spread across the area from New York and Connecticut this morning and may become heavier for a short while during the afternoon into the evening rush hours. The snow should end altogether later this evening.

However, if you were hoping for a "White Christmas," you may be disappointed to learn that the snow is unlikely to stick around, since temperatures are expected to "warm" into the 40s and 50s later this week and early next week.
