NEW: Matos to be Appointed to Council Finance Committee

The Providence City Council finance committee will soon have a new member.

First-term Councilwoman Sabina Matos will replace Council President Michael Solomon, who plans to resign from the committee this week.

"Resigning from the Committee on Finance and appointing Councilwoman Matos was an easy decision," Solomon said. "During her first year on the Council she showed an extraordinary work ethic and deep commitment to solving the critical issues facing our City. Even though she wasn't on the committee she attended nearly all the meetings during 2011. I was always impressed by her command of the issues and felt she was a much needed voice in the room."

Matos will also join the Providence Economic Development Partnership (PEDP) as a board member.
