NEW: National Weather Service Issues Flood Watch for Rhode Island
The National Weather Service issued an updated Flood Watch at 3:51PM Wednesday for most of the Taunton Forecast Area, including Kent, Providence, and Washington counties here in Rhode Island.
The flood watch will remain in effect until Thursday afternoon.
They have also issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook covering both Northern and Southern Rhode Island urging the public to heed further Flood Watches and to report significant weather conditions. The Watch attributes 1.5 - 3.0 inches of potential rainfall across the forecast area to a slow moving frontal system. The highest potential is for flooding of Urban and Poor Drainage areas. There is a lesser chance of flooding of the flashier of the small streams in the area.
