Police Make Arrest in Double Stabbing at Graduate Hotel in Providence

Providence Police have arrested a suspect in the double stabbing that took place at the Graduate Hotel in Providence over the weekend. 

According to Providence Police Detective Major David Lapatin, Damani Green was apprehended on Monday evening shortly before 7 PM.

The arrest took place on Phoebe Street, off of Killingly Street.

Green is being charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon. 

Police said the stabbing victims -- who have not been identified -- are both currently in stable condition.

Shortly before 1 AM Sunday morning, police were dispatched to the Graduate at 11 Dorrance Street for a report of a stabbing.

Police responded to the eighth floor where they encountered two male stabbing victims. 

According to police, the men were both stabbed in their mid-sections, and were transported to Rhode Island Hospital where they were in stable condition overnight. 

One victim underwent surgery and is now in critical condition as of Sunday morning. 

Witnesses told police a small birthday party had been taking place in a room when a fight broke out, and the stabbing occurred. 

On Monday, GoLocal also broke that another incident at the hotel required additional response by Providence police -- on the same night. 

A woman reportedly was assaulted at the Graduate shortly before 4 AM on Sunday.
