NEW: Police Respond to Multiple Reports of Shots Fired in Providence Overnight

On Tuesday night, police had responded to reports of a double shooting, a stabbing, and multiple instances of shots fired in the city -- all in less than a six-hour span.

On 8-26-20 at approx. 2237 hrs police responded to 197 Carleton St for a report of shots fired.
While on scene police initially located 3 shell casings. Two on the side of the house and one in front of the house.
While investigating, Police located 3 more shell casings on the 2nd floor porch of 197 Carleton St. Also while on scene, 4 more shell casings were found in the street at 181 Carleton St. It should be noted all the shell casings found were 9 mm rounds.

On 08/26/20 at approximately 2245 hours Police were dispatched to 25 Rockingham for a report of shots fired. Upon arrival Police spoke [with a witness] who stated that she heard approximately 10 gun shots while lying in bed.
A short time after the last shot was fired [the witness] looked outside her window and observed bullet holes in her vehicle.

On 08/27/2020 at approximately 0020 hours, Police were dispatched to 84 Veazie St for a report of shots fired. Dispatch also advised Police that a house was shot into and the caller heard vehicles speeding away from the scene.
Upon arrival, Police spoke with a female subject who explained to Police that she was lying down in bed when she heard multiple gun shots before observing two bullet holes in her bedroom ceiling. Police then spoke with another female subject who explained that she was getting ready to go to sleep when she heard a loud bang followed by 4-5 gun shots.
Police canvassed the area and located two (2) bullet holes in [the first witness’] bedroom ceiling of the apartment as well as two (2) bullet holes in the storage room just above the window. Police continued to canvass the area at which point they observed two (2) spent casings in front of 74 Veazie St. It should be noted that Police viewed surveillance video from 74 Veazie St (1st floor) which showed a Black SUV drive up to 84 Veazie St. As the vehicle drives up to the residence, Police observed what appeared to be several flashes from the muzzle of a gun from the passenger side window of the black SUV.
Police later located and stopped the SUV — where they found spent casings.
Several units canvassed the area and re-traced the path of travel that the vehicle took in attempt to locate a firearm. Police located a Glock 26 9mm handgun in the lock back position on the sidewalk in the area of 52 Oregon St. just in from Fillmore St.
The firearm located was resting on a pile of dirt that appeared to be disturbed as if the firearm was thrown from a moving vehicle and slid into the pile of dirt. It should also be noted that the firearm was observed to have scratch marks along the frame of the firearm.
