NEW: Providence Councilman Luna Hospitalized

Providence City Councilman Miguel Luna was hospitalized earlier this morning after suffering a heart attack, GoLocalProv has learned.

Luna is reportedly staying at Rhode Island Hospital and has been “stabilized.” Further details were not immediately available.

Luna has represented Ward 9 on the City Council since January 2003. A native of the Dominican Republic, he was the first Dominican-American elected to the City Council. He won re-election bids in 2006 and 2010.
