Providence Councilwoman Involved in Car Accident, Police Investigating

Providence Police are investigating a car accident involving a Providence City Councilwoman.

According to reports, Councilwoman Carmen Castillo, who represents Ward 9 (Elmwood/South Elmwood) was involved in a two-vehicle crash over the weekend.

Providence Police Chief Hugh Clements on Monday night confirmed that police are investigating the accident.

A report is expected to be released on Tuesday. 

Castillo, who was first elected to the council in 2012 and serves as Majority Whip, did respond to request for comment on Monday.
